Folium X
“What have I been thinking about all year without noticing?”
Asked by you, of the books you actually own and read.
The intended experience
A passage can change the way you read another book—and the way you understand your own life. Folium X is being built to follow those exchanges across your collection: recurring preoccupations, unexpected affinities, convictions brought into question, and ideas that become something of your own.
How it unfolds
- GatheredThe passages you marked, across a novel, a field guide and a history. Each kept to the exact copy and page you read it in, even the copy your grandmother wrote in.
- WeighedYou draw three threads through them: attention, repair, belonging. Each thread remains open to the passages that sustain it and those that complicate it. You can keep, combine or rename the connections; their meaning is yours to examine.
- MadeA developing account of your own thinking, in your words, which you can question, extend, write from and revisit as your understanding changes.
- PossibilityA book you had not considered; a question you could not yet have asked. Reading can become an inquiry into what matters to you—and a source of ideas, perspectives and work that carry beyond the page.
